About Us | Our Story

Buying a bike for your children should be enjoyable, right? Well it is for the child. But for the parents, not always. The reason? It can be a real hassle.

I’ve worked in a bike shop for a long time and I can’t remember a single time a parent came into the shop without having to go through the age old debate as to whether to spend the money on the bike that fits perfectly but that their child would surely grow out of within 6 months. Or invest the money in one slightly too big for the child to avoid repeating the process a short time after. Our advice, always get the one that fits. However, that’s not always the way it goes.

This is why The Pedal Club exists. We have seen this issue first hand far too many times. Between the ages of 6 & 12 years old, children grow at an average of 2.5 inches (6.25 cm) per year – one quick look at our size guide and you’ll see that it doesn’t take long for them to jump through those size brackets – and that’s assuming they grow at a steady rate which we all know is not the case.

The truth is that it’s expensive, time consuming and a hassle having to buy a new bike every 1-2 years and it’s unsafe to have your children riding a bike that’s too big.

We want to give parents flexibility, assurances and an easy alternative to buying bikes on repeat for their children.

I’m not a parent just yet but Ed, my Co-Founder, is so we know first hand what it’s like to blink and find it’s time to buy a whole new set of clothes or shoes.

Bikes are no different. Let your children grow into cycling, not out of it.
